Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Agreement on cooperation in the field of environmental protection, certification and decrease of GHG emissions, methodology for evaluation of the quality of infrastructure and energy efficiency of renewables.

The agreement was concluded between the Federal Ministry of Environmental Protection and Tourism and the Center for International Cooperation and Development (CMSR) from Ljubljana. Minister Edita Đapo has been authorized to sign the agreement.

The aim of the agreement is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Measuring GHG emissions and verification of results is a requirement for managing air pollution.

The effects of planned projects are aligned with EU directives, Horizon 2020 project and international conventions aiming to monitor and reduce GHG emissions through better use and storing of power, use of alternative and renewable sources, recycling, meeting demand and establishing infrastructure for monitoring energy efficiency, as well as losses of power and quality of electrical energy in the grid.

Certification of GHG will help measure, manage and reduce emissions. According to the government’s press release, it will also help identify the possibilities for saving resources and reduce expenses.
