World Wide Fund for Nature called all cities to join the 10. Earth Hour by switching off lights from 20:30 to 21:30 on Saturday, March 25.

The purpose of the action is to raise awareness of climate change. Cities will be switching off public lighting and citizens will turn off lights in their homes.

Global action Earth Hour will be marked on six continents. The WWF believes even more countries will participate now than last year, when there were 178 of them. In Serbia 85 cities, 180 schools, 92 NGOs and 75 companies participated. During the main event a spectacular 3D mapping image was projected on the facade of the City Assembly of Belgrade.

Since 2007. the Earth Hour involved numerous companies, organizations, government and hundreds of millions of people in over 7,000 cities. The WWF has been encouraging individuals from the very beginning to take action on climate change. One hour spent in the dark should serve as a reminder that we must ensure our planet’s future is sustainable.

The symbol of Earth Hour will once again be the world’s most famous landmarks. The walls of Kalemegdan, Belgrade city bridges, the Old Court, the National Assembly, Prince Mihailo monument, Temple of Saint Sava, Petrovaradin fortress, Niš fortress and many other object will join the Eiffel tower, Roman Colosseum and Big Ben in London in switching off lights from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 25.
