The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has announced an internship opportunity in sustainable energy, just transition, and resource management. The program, which runs from April to October, is a unique chance for students and graduates to gain practical experience in an international environment.

The internship program will last six months, from May 1 to October 30, at the UNECE headquarters in Geneva. Final year undergraduate students, as well as those enrolled in or having completed master’s or doctoral studies, can apply until March 3.

Interns will participate in organizing and supporting intergovernmental and expert meetings on topics such as sustainable energy, just transition, energy security, renewable energy, energy efficiency, cleaner electricity systems, coal mine methane, methane management, and resource classification.

Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to conduct research, analyze data, and prepare technical studies. They will participate in the preparation of promotional campaigns on social media. Furthermore, they will provide support in drafting documentation and updating databases.

Candidates are expected to be familiar with basic software tools, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, while experience in writing news articles and creating content for social media is an additional advantage.

The internship is unpaid, and candidates or their sponsoring institutions are responsible for covering travel, visa, and accommodation expenses. Although UNECE does not provide financial compensation for interns, the program provides the opportunity to work alongside numerous international experts and contribute to global energy initiatives.
