TMD Group will produce components in Bosnia and Herzegovina for electric cars manufactured by Japanese automotive giant Mitsubishi Motors.

According to local media, TMD has recently started the construction of a new facility, an investment estimated at BAM 20 million (EUR 10.2 million).

Test production at the company’s existing facilities in Gradačac has already begun

Adem Hanić, TMD Group CEO, said test production at the company’s existing facilities in Gradačac has already begun. The company is making rotors for drive motors in electric vehicles (EVs).

Production at full capacity is planned for June 2021

Production at full swing is planned to be reached in June 2021 and it is agreed to last seven years, Hanić added.

The opening ceremony for the construction of the new production facility was attended by prime ministers of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić, and the Tuzla Canton, Denijal Tulumović.

Tuzla Canton will reduce taxes on electric cars and build charging infrastructure

According to Tulumović, the cantonal authorities were the first in BiH to amend the law and reduce taxes on electric vehicles in order to increase their number.

The canton and a group of investors reached a deal to install a charging station for EVs in Tuzla, and the plan is to put more of them in other cities and municipalities.

It would create the infrastructure for the mass use of EVs, which would certainly contribute to the reduction of air pollution, said Tulumović.
