Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Bor, Belgrade-based Netinvest and Swiss company S2P Electric have joined forces to install a 56 MW solar power plant on land degraded by waste disposal from the mines located near the city of Bor.

The Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Bor, the company Netinvest from Belgrade and Swiss firm S2P Electric, owned by SS&A Power Group, reached an agreement on the joint project. The contract was signed by Saša Savić (SS&A Power Group), Mile Bugarin (IRM Bor), and Zoran Butulija (Netinvest).

The investment will be realized by the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Bor, Netinvest, and S2P Electric

The solar power plant will be built according to the highest environmental standards, in the area where the mine tailings were deposited, according to a press release by SS&A Power Group.

The EUR 40 million investment will provide jobs for domestic experts who will work on the project together with colleagues from abroad. The beginning of construction is planned for 2022, the company said.

The power plant will be built on land that has been degraded due to deposited mining tailings

The solar power plant will be installed on degraded land that cannot be used for other purposes. It is a location known as Visoki planiri – a tailings dump from the mines in Bor.

Swiss company SS&A Power Group recently presented an innovative thermal battery TWEST in its test center in Serbia.
