The International Green Economy Congress titled Shaping Synergies into a Circular Society will be held from November 1-3 in Belgrade. During three days of the conference, which will be held on the premises of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, participants will have the opportunity to hear the leaders in economy, entrepreneurship, innovation and science, and environmental protection.

Organizers of the Green Economy Congress (GEC-2018-Draft-Agenda) are civil society organizations Networked and the public policy analysis group GAJP, which have been working on networking, public policy development, support and advocacy of sustainable development principles in all spheres since 2012.

The first congress, held last year, brought together economists, innovators, entrepreneurs, decisionmakers, civil society representatives and students who sent the message that partnership and networking are the essential steps in the development of the green economy.

Žaklina Živković of GAJP’s Center for Sustainable Development says that the green economy is considered to be one of the most progressive global concepts as it fosters development and respects the regional and global ecosystem, helps improve living standards and social equality, and significantly reduces environmental risks.

“Projects in the green economy field represent a development opportunity for Serbia and the region. During the conference, participants will have the opportunity to hear excellent lecturers on the circular economy, as well as to participate in speed dating with startups.

The mission of the Green Economy Congress is to create a global network that will enable the development of green initiatives on the international level,” she noted.

The conference is open to students who are only just developing an interest in the green economy, as well as professionals and activists.

“The Congress also provides space for presentations of participants, and if you have any project or initiative you want to present, this is a conference for you (link for applications),” Živković said.

The aim of the organizers is not only to raise the awareness of green topics, but also to build a sustainable community that will enable a faster development of green initiatives on the international level.
