The Supervisory Board of Petrol appointed member of the Management Board Sašo Berger as the new CEO. Upon the end of her term of office, his predecessor Nada Drobne Popović said the company based in Ljubljana is in an excellent financial condition.

The term of office of President of the Management Board of Petrol Nada Drobne Popović, who took over the position in October 2019, ended early by way of mutual agreement. The supervisory board appointed management board member Sašo Berger as the new chief executive for five years.

Before assuming the new role, he was responsible for business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) sales, electricity, natural gas and IT.

Sašo Berger is also a top manager in Kontron

Nada Drobne Popović will stay with the company until the end of this year in order to hand over all tasks and duties. She said she is proud to hand over the company based in Ljubljana and Petrol Group in an excellent financial condition despite the difficult and unpredictable challenges that she faced during her presidency, starting with the health crisis and continuing with the energy crisis. Drobne Popović expressed belief that the annual plan would be surpassed.

Sašo Berger worked in management positions in Tehnoimpex and S&T Slovenija. He chaired the Supervisory Board of Petrol for more than a year until April 2021.

Last year he also became the chief executive officer of Kontron in Slovenia and executive vice president of parent company Kontron AG.

Petrol, in which Slovenia has a minority stake, was founded in 1945. Initially focused on the trade and distribution of oil products and natural gas and the operation of service stations, in the past two decades it expanded to the Balkan region and to the sectors of electricity, energy solutions, district heating and the development and operation of renewable energy projects.

Petrol is the largest energy company in Slovenia. It said it plans to commission a 22 MW solar power plant in Croatia by the end of the year, Montel. At this moment, it would be the largest in the country. The firm will then have 74 MW of renewable electricity capacity in Croatia.
