Croatian company Rimac Technology, part of Rimac Group, has entered into a partnership with BMW. It will provide battery units for the automotive giant.

Electric vehicle technology solutions provider Rimac Technology announced that, under a long-term partnership with BMW Group, it will provide high-voltage battery units for its product range.

The company is already cooperating with other global automotive manufacturers.

Rimac Technology said it is embarking on the next stage of development by delivering greater volumes of advanced battery systems as part of its ongoing mission to push the boundaries of EV technology.

It is the largest and most ambitious project Rimac Technology has undertaken to date

According to the Croatian tech firm, the deal with BMW marks a significant milestone as its largest and most ambitious project to date.

The cooperation with the German luxury car maker implies the establishment of sophisticated automated battery production lines at the Rimac Campus near Croatia’s capital Zagreb, the statement adds. Rimac Technology pointed out that a significant portion of the facility would be dedicated to the new project.

Founder and CEO of Rimac Group Mate Rimac noted that his business journey began with a 1984 BMW 3 Series that he converted into an electric car in his garage at the age of 20.

“So it’s a perfect piece of symmetry to partner with the BMW Group today,” he said.

Rimac: We’re now ready to deliver large-scale projects for the leading brands in the automotive industry

Rimac underscored that it marks a pivotal moment in his company’s growth, from humble beginnings to a major long-term partnership with one of the greatest automotive brands in the world.

“It’s a clear sign of the transition of Rimac Technology from niche high-performance supplier to high-volume production capability. With the relentless growth of our business, including the opening of Rimac Campus, we’re now ready to deliver large-scale projects for the leading brands in the automotive industry,” Rimac stressed.

The two companies vowed to release more details later on the strategic tie-up’s scope and content.

BMW Group’s electrification strategy is aimed at building further on its leading position in the premium electric mobility sector, Rimac Technology said.
