ProCredit Bank Kosovo has invited bids from interested companies to build and operate a 3 MW grid-connected solar photovoltaic power plant in the municipality of Lipjan. The investment will be implemented through ProEnergy LLC, the bank’s special purpose vehicle for solar energy projects.
The contract will include the supply, procurement, construction, commissioning, and comprehensive operation and maintenance of the solar power plant over two years, according to the invitation from ProCredit Bank. The selected contractor will also be required to design, supply, build and commission a 20 kV UG cable line for the power plant’s grid connection.
The bid submission deadline is September 15
The application documents will be available from July 28, 2021, via the email address kos.procurement@procredit-group.com, and the bid submission deadline is extended to September 15 at 12:00.
The PV system will be developed on a four-hectare land plot
The land plot for the project, in the village of Gracke e Vjeter, covers an area of four hectares and is located 6.5 kilometers from the existing 110/35 kV Lipjani substation, to which the future photovoltaic system will be connected, subject to approval from the Kosovo Electricity Distribution and Supply (KEDS). The land plot has been rented for two years with the option to purchase, ProCredit said in a statement.
The solar power project in Lipjan is in line with ProCredit Group’s medium-term goal to become carbon neutral
The decision to develop the Lipjan solar power project is aimed at reducing the negative environmental impact of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Kosovo*, where about 97% of electricity is generated by two old thermal power plants which release almost 1 kg of CO2 for each kilowatt produced, the bank said.
The project is also in line with ProCredit Group’s medium-term goal to become a carbon-neutral institution and is hoped to set a positive example and contribute to the overall development of Kosovo*, where initiatives to promote and support sustainable projects are still very rare, according to the statement.
