Germany’s Notus Energy has completed the construction of a 102.6 MW wind farm in Bajgora, the largest in Kosovo* so far. The wind farm, with 27 turbines supplied by General Electric, has started feeding electricity into the grid, according to a statement from Notus.

A transformer substation with a capacity of 120 MW was built near the village of Bajgora to convert the wind farm’s electricity to 110 kV, Notus said in the statement.

A part of the wind farm was put into trial operation this summer, according to previous reports. The project was developed by SoWi Kosovo, a joint venture between Israeli renewable energy company Enlight and its German and Kosovar partners.

The project was backed by the EBRD, Erste Bank, and NLB Group

The construction of the wind farm, located in the municipality of Mitrovica, was backed with a EUR 58 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with Erste Bank and NLB Group also participating in the financing.

The wind farm’s annual output is projected at 320 GWh

Its total annual output is estimated at 320 GWh, while the system is designed to be operated for at least 25 years.

Only one wind farm in pipeline in Kosovo* would be bigger than Bajgora. That project is part of a 170 MW hybrid power plant, 132 MW of which would be in wind turbines.

* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status and is in line with UNSCR 1244/99 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.
