At the upcoming Belgrade Energy Forum 2023, energy law experts from CMS law offices from Serbia, North Macedonia, Austria and Slovenia  will deliver the presentation Legal insights for your smart energy investments to present pressing issues for renewable energy projects in several countries in the region. Thomas Hamerl, Partner at CMS Vienna and Co-Head of CMS RRH, said the law firm provides solutions tailored to its clients’ needs and helps them understand local market conditions.

We are all witnesses that despite the current political and economic crisis, the interest in investments in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy sources, is increasing.

Investors are looking for ways to secure their investments in challenging times. On the other hand, they strive to make their projects efficient by successfully managing various legal, regulatory and technical obstacles that arise during project implementation.

Securing land rights and grid connection are some of the main initial steps for any green energy investment

Regulators are working to respond to new circumstances, but also to resolve current issues such as securing land rights and grid connection, which are major initial steps required for every renewable energy project.

As a law firm with regional reach and experience in renewable energy projects, we understand the importance of early insight into legal challenges and new regulations and practices in the region.

Legal insights for your smart energy investments

Our experienced energy law experts, coming from different countries in the region, will share their knowledge and experience in renewable energy projects on May 9 at the Belgrade Energy Forum 2023, at the panel ‘Legal insights for your smart energy investments’.

They will shed light on the key pressing issues in various countries, including on:

  • new and expected legislative changes in Serbia and Slovenia,
  • main challenges of securing land for projects and land conversion in North Macedonia,
  • roof-top solar projects and energy-sharing models that can help overcome difficulties with grid access and zoning in Austria.

Join Tamara Zejak, Marija Filipovska Jelčić, Dunja Jandl and Georg Gutfleisch to discover the latest trends, challenges, and solutions in the renewable energy sector in the region.
