The Board of Directors of Kosovo Energy Corp. promoted Interim Chief Executive Officer Gramos Hashani to the power utility’s regular head. He was appointed fourteen months ago.

Following an open, transparent and competitive process, Gramos Hashani has been selected for the position of CEO of Kosovo Energy Corp. (KEK), according to the government-controlled company’s board.

The selection was conducted in compliance with the Law on Public Enterprises. It included the evaluation and interviewing of all candidates who met the criteria set out in the public vacancy announcement, according to the update.

Hashani became KEK’s interim CEO in February of last year. He holds a degree from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Prishtina – Hasan Prishtina, while he completed his master’s studies at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, in the United States.

The power utility’s head is a certified accountant and internal auditor from the Society of Certified Accountants and Auditors of Kosovo (SCAAK), and a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom.

Hashani possesses extensive expertise in strategic financial management, corporate governance, investments in the energy transition, and the implementation of international accounting standards (IFRS and US GAAP), the announcement reads. His professional experience spans both the energy and financial sectors, in the United States of America as well as in Kosovo*, where he has held senior positions in international and local companies, the board added.

* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status and is in line with UNSCR 1244/99 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.
