Balkan Green Energy News presents the first episode of the Perspective video feature, introduced to provide experts, decision makers, business community and other stakeholders with an opportunity to share with BGEN audience their insights on the important sustainable energy and environmental topics and developments in the Balkan region, Europe and worldwide.

In the first episode Siniša Mitrović, advisor to the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, speaks about the consequences of the abolition of the Fund for Environmental Protection back in 2012 and the possibilities of establishing a modern revolving fund which will support investments in green infrastructure in Serbia.

According to Mitrović, total revenues from environmental fees amount to EUR 100 million per year, which can be a good basis for the establishment of a kind of green bank that will give loans to small and medium enterprises and local governments.

“We need to look closely at the downsides of the previous fund, since the distribution of the funds was not carried out transparently. We need good management of the new Fund so that the industry really makes use of it. However, representatives of the industry will have to meet certain criteria to become eligible for the funds,” Mitrović said.
