Vojvodina public institutions most interested in efficient lighting, least in biomass

The Provincial Secretariat for energy, construction and transport will support 27 projects in the field of renewable energy sources (RES) and energy efficiency. The majority of project proposals deal with efficient interior lighting, while only a few biomass project proposals were submitted.

The Secretariat of the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina will co-finance solar water heating, biomass heating, energy efficient interior lighting and heat pumps for heating and cooling projects with RSD 70 million (EUR 0.56 million). The projects will be implemented by provincial public institutions.

Correctional Institution in Sremska Mitrovica and Gerontology Center Kanjiža are granted RSD 5.2 million for the implementation of solar water heating projects. Fourteen energy efficient interior lighting projects will be implemented in primary and secondary schools, institutions, nursing homes and health and social care institutions in nine municipalities in Vojvodina with grants worth RSD 23.9 million.

Biomass heating in public institutions is supported with RSD 12.9 million, while a total of RSD 3.3 million is allocated for the installation of heat pumps. In addition, seven abandoned mines reclamation projects will be co-financed with 24.5 million in Novi Sad, Kikinda, Titel, Sid, Ruma, Bečej and Orešac.

“Even 38 public institutions applied for grants for energy efficient public lighting, while only five institutions applied for biomass heating. Eight applications dealing with heat pumps and solar energy were submitted, but the applications were incomplete, so only a few projects are supported,” says provincial secretary Nenad Grbić for Balkan Green Energy News.

The deadline for the implementation of the projects is June 30, 2017. The Secretariat of Energy, construction and transport announced that it will continue to fund projects in the field of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. The Secretariat will promote the use of renewable energy sources on the Energy Days event that will be held in March next year in Novi Sad.
