An investment agreement worth EUR 1.2 million was signed for a new wastewater collection system by representatives the Serbian local authority’s water supply company JP Vodovod and construction firm MPP Jedinstvo a.d., based in Užice-Sevojno, as the best bidder.
According to the administration of the City of Vranje, the new systems are to prevent wastewater overflow in the streets during rainfall. The project is expected to be a step towards building the first local wastewater treatment plant. “Three wastewater collection facilities will be built in Bunuševac and in Solunska and Marička streets. The most important project is the construction of the facility in Bunuševac, because it will enable the arrival of investors in the city,” said Vranje mayor Slobodan Milenković.
The entire project is being financed in cooperation with Germany’s KfW Development Bank and the works should commence in early October.
