The shareholder assembly of Montenegro’s state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore has elected the new Board of Directors, reappointing Milutin Đukanović as chairman.

The 28th extraordinary shareholder assembly was chaired by Chief Executive Officer Ivan Bulatović, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) said.

The new members of the Board of Directors are Milutin Đukanović, Tahir Gjonbalaj, Neven Gošović, Zoran Miljanić, Vladimir Katić, Jovica Milanović and Simo Jokić.

Milutin Đukanović was reappointed as a chairman while Tahir Gjonbalaj was also a member of the previous board. The new board was appointed after the Parliament of Montenegro elected the country’s 44th government in October.

Đukanović: The aim is to enable the company to continue to operate successfully

The state is the majority shareholder, with more than 98%, so the new government wants to have representatives on the board that will back its strategic goals, Milutin Đukanović told Balkan Green Energy News.

The newly elected members of the board are authorized and obligated to act in line with legal regulations and company procedures and contribute to the development of EPCG, he stressed.

Đukanović pointed out that it was a regular procedure. The main goal is that the company continues to operate successfully and contribute to making Montenegro energy self-sufficient, he added.

EPCG: Expertise prevailed

Minister of Mining and Energy Saša Mujović has proposed three candidates that joined EPCG’s board: Jovica Milanović, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester, Professor Vladimir Katić from the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, and Professor Zoran Miljanić from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Montenegro’s capital Podgorica.

Their impressive biographies are introducing a new chapter in the development of the largest state-owned company in line with Minister Mujović’s promise that expertise and professional experience will prevail in the boards of directors of energy companies, EPCG claimed.

Jovica Milanović is an honorary professor at the University of Queensland, Australia

In addition, Jovica Milanović is an honorary professor at the University of Queensland, Australia, and a visiting professor at the universities of Belgrade and Novi Sad. Apart from impressive academic work, he has written more than 620 publications and participated in numerous industrial development projects, the utility added.

Milanović is also a member of advisory bodies of international companies and has been involved in securing grants estimated at GBP 83 million in total. His rich international and regional experience in the development of energy systems is a resource that will contribute to the development of EPCG, the update reads.

Katić has built the first solar power plant in Serbia

Vladimir Katić is the founder of the prestigious Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, considered the best technical faculty in the region.

He has built the first solar power plant in Serbia and created a wind atlas in Serbia, EPCG said.

Katić was the leader or participant in 15 international and 50 domestic scientific projects or studies, while his most famous professional expertise relates to the research of the quality of electricity.

Zoran Miljanić is considered to be, according to EPCG, one of the leading Montenegrin experts in the power systems sector. He implemented a vast number of projects for transmission and distribution grids and grid connections for renewable electricity plants, the company wrote.
