State-owned logistics company and postal service Post of Serbia has presented its electric delivery vehicles Cenntro Logistar 200 VAN for shipments, package delivery, express mail, and cash express and telegram services for citizens and businesses in Novi Sad, the country’s second-largest city.

Novi Sad is the first city where the Post of Serbia will introduce electric vehicles (EVs). The company presented 31 vans and said it plans to electrify the entire post fleet in the city.

Zoran Đorđević, acting general manager of the Post of Serbia, asserted that the firm’s long-term commitment is to constantly increase the share of EVs in its transport fleet: motorcycles, bicycles, and vans.

By the end of the month, the Post of Serbia will start using the new vehicles for services in the city center.

In addition to good services, the new vehicles will improve the quality of life in Novi Sad and position it among the most environmentally friendly cities in Europe, Đorđević stressed.

The Post of Serbia recently installed the first solar panels on its buildings

EVs are, in his words, just one of the activities implemented by the company to innovate all phases of the technological process and infrastructure. All the steps are directed toward a sustainable environmentally responsible future and long-term cost reduction, he said.

The company has already installed solar panels at its postal center in Kragujevac, and Novi Sad is determined to be next. Photovoltaic panels will subsequently be put on its buildings in Belgrade and Niš, the announcement reveals.

EVs replace older vehicles on the streets, resulting in the reduction of harmful emissions and noise

Electricity produced in the PV plants will be used for the operation of automatic sorting machines and EV charging stations, Đorđević said.

Novi Sad Mayor Milan Đurić said electric vehicles would replace older vehicles on the streets. They don’t have harmful emissions and don’t make noise, he added.

It also reduces air and noise pollution.

The City of Novi Sad, in his words, intends to continue to invest in sustainable development with the purchase of electric buses, opening more cycling lanes and offering subsidies to citizens to buy bicycles.

Of note, Cenntro, the manufacturer of the vehicles acquired by the Post of Serbia, is headquartered in New Jersey in the United States.
