Electric power utility of Serbia (EPS) announced it intends to use the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for four tenders, three of which are expected to be launched during the last quarter of the year. The whole project has a total estimated cost of EUR 37 million.

The overall endeavour, according to the notice published on the bank’s website, includes procurement of works and services for 15 small hydropower plants (SHPPs) and the construction of two such units on existing water management dams in Serbia. The project consists of six lots, where the contract has already been awarded and works are ongoing for the first one, concerning equipment for eight power plants. The tender evaluation for the remaining seven, marked as lot 3, is ongoing, the document adds.

Lots 2 and 4 are for civil works in the groups of eight and seven units, respectively. The two new systems will have contracts for equipment tendered as lot 5, but the state-controlled utility gave no indication on the schedule for the selection process. Civil works for both power plants are in lot 6. EPS said it has awarded contracts for consulting services, including an environmental expert and an independent engineer.
