The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton has granted a concession for the construction of ten solar power plants with a total capacity of 40 MW to local firm Plavo sunce.

The Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and Plavo sunce have concluded a concession contract for the production, transmission and distribution of electricity for ten photovoltaic facilities, Indikator.ba reported.

The solar power plants with a planned capacity of 4 MW each are planned to be installed in the village of Polog near Mostar. The concession is for 30 years.

Plavo sunce is registered in Čitluk in the Međugorje area. Its founders are Iva Mamić – daughter of Zdravko Mamić, former head of Croatian football club Dinamo, Mirjana Gagro, Ivanka Ostojić and Marinko Barbarić.

Of note, in mid-March, the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton granted concessions for the construction of three solar power plants near the city of Mostar.

The total installed capacity of the Lena 1, Lena 2 and Energo MI 7 projects should be 231 MW. All three concessions are for 30 years.

Herzegovina, the southern part of BiH, has a high number of sun hours throughout the year. It hosts many photovoltaic projects.
