Power utility Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske has announced a tender for the selection of consultants for the reorganization of its subsidiaries that produce electricity and coal.
Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS) has already started its reorganization process in the segment of the distribution sector reform.
The reorganization is being conducted in accordance with the Law on Electricity that was adopted in 2020. It transposed the European Union’s Third Energy Package.
ERS has five production firms
ERS has now announced a tender for the procurement of consulting services for the development and implementation of the reorganization program for its electricity generation and coal production segment.
The company has five production firms: hydropower plant operators Hidroelektrane na Trebišnjici, Hidroelektrane na Drini and Hidroelektrane na Vrbasu, and coal and power producers Rudnik i termoelektrane Gacko and Rudnik i termoelektrana Ugljevik.
The deadline for sending bids is December 13, according to the call published on the website of the Public Procurement Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
ERS earmarked BAM 2.9 million (EUR 1.45 million) for the project, according to Capital.ba.
Miljević: It is interesting that ERS does not know how to reorganize on its own
Economist Damir Miljević, a member of RESET, said it is interesting that ERS, the largest and most important company in the Republic of Srpska, is not able to carry out the reorganization by itself, but needs to hire consultants.
He expressed belief the advisers would be from abroad, judging by the amount of money that has been allocated. Miljević pointed out that maybe BiH doesn’t have experts capable of doing the job. However, he is skeptical that consultants from abroad, without sufficient knowledge of the situation in BiH, would provide good solutions.
