Turkish renewable energy developer Enerjisa Üretim put into operation its wind power plant Erciyes in Kayseri with an installed capacity of 65 MW. It grew its installed capacity to 3.7 GW in total and 277 MW in wind energy. The company announced a target of 5 GW in renewables in the next five years.

Enerjisa Üretim, based in Turkey, has increased its total electricity generation capacity to 3.7 GW and its installed wind power capacity to 277 MW with a new 65 MW wind farm. The investment was worth EUR 70 million.

Wind farm Erciyes has 12 Nordex N163 turbines. At 5.7 MW each, they are the largest in the country. They are more than 200 meters high including blades and have the largest rotor diameter in Turkey.

The utility said the facility, located in the Kayseri province in central Anatolia, would prevent 200,000 tons of carbon emissions per year. Erciyes will produce 221 GWh on an annual scale, equivalent to the electricity needs of 75,000 households in Turkey.

The unit was commissioned two months ahead of schedule. It is part of a hybrid power plant project – a 14.5 MW photovoltaic plant has been installed next to the wind farm and tested, awaiting commissioning. When completed, the complex will have more than 100 MW, the utility said.

Enerjisa Üretim vowed to increase its installed power to 5 GW within years, only with investments in renewable energy

Enerjisa Üretim announced a goal for its installed power of 5 GW within five years and sait it would only invest in renewable energy.

The company plans to increase the share of renewable energy in its portfolio to 60%, CEO İhsan Erbil Bayçöl said at the inauguration ceremony.

Yeka renewables program with German Enercon

German wind turbine manufacturers Enercon and Enerjisa Üretim have teamed up to build four wind power plants with 1 GW in combined capacity. They won the power purchase agreements in 2019 at the second round of the Renewable Energy Resources Area (YEKA) tender, at 500 MW each.

The companies signed an agreement at the beginning of the month. It is by far the largest private sector investment in wind energy in the country.

Enerjisa Üretim will be the investor and operator. The company said it would complete the projects from YEKA-2 by the first quarter of 2026. The four units of 250 MW each are envisaged to be installed in the provinces of Çanakkale, Balıkesir, Aydın, and Muğla.

They are set to boost Enercon’s operational capacity in Turkey to over 3.5 GW.

Enerjisa Üretim is a joint venture of E.ON and Sabanci Holding. The company has 22 power plants, and it produces 56% of renewable energy in the country.

Out of 3.7 GW in its installed capacity, 43% is on natural gas, 37% are hydroelectric plants, 12% is fueled by domestic lignite and 8% is in wind and solar power plants. The developer has a goal to build hybrid solar power plants of 150 MW in total by the end of 2024.
