Zorana Mihajlović, Serbian vice premier and minister for construction, transport and infrastructure, signed a contract for the funding of the reconstruction of water factory ‘Petar Antonijević’ with Užice mayor Tihomir Petković. Total worth of the overhaul is RSD 400 million (EUR 3.2 million).

The ministry said funds from its budget were redistributed to provide EUR 2.92 million as this is one of the priority projects. Citizens of Užice, located in the country’s west, will be able to use water for drinking after the first phase of a two-phase project that will be completed by the end of the next year, Mihajlović said.

Petković said the city will provide EUR 40,500 by the end of the year and EUR 284,000 more during next year to implement the project. “The final work is also the most important, and that is the permanent rehabilitation of the reservoir lake Vrutci where we will, with the help of the government, work on the quality of the project and apply for money from EU funds,” he added.
