Kenlov Renewable Energy has formally launched its presence in Greece with a 378 MW pipeline of wind and solar projects in the process of securing power production licenses. The Israeli company has plans for expansion to Italy, Spain and Serbia.

Tel Aviv–based Kenlov Renewable Energy said it is developing nine solar and wind power projects in Greece. Three of them, with 223 MW in total, are run by its in-house team led by the newly appointed Greece Country Manager Giannis Lazarou

The independent power producer or IPP said a domestic partner has initiated the remainder of the 378 MW portfolio and that it would take them forward under a development service agreement. Kenlov added that it appointed experienced country managers in other European countries as well, to boost in-house development capabilities, establish local partnerships and flesh out a development pipeline across key markets including Italy, Spain, and Serbia.

Kenlov has more than 3 GW in its project pipeline including almost 1.5 GW in the United States

“I joined the team at Kenlov to help establish a new IPP with a significant global portfolio. We’ve come a long way in a few short months and that bodes very well indeed for the future. Our ambition is to build out an operational portfolio in Greece of hundreds of megawatts in the coming years,” Lazarou pointed out.

In the announcement, the Israeli utility said it is in the process of securing power production licenses for its projects in Greece. Last month, Kenlov’s global development pipeline broke the 3 GW mark with its fourth photovoltaic development in the United States – the 300 MW Rolling Sun project in Bushland, Texas.

The company said it has almost 1.5 GW of solar power projects in development in the US. Kenlov is also active in the energy storage sector.
