Julije Domac, Director of the North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency (REGEA), participated at the Greencajt Festival held in Zagreb (June 3-5) in the panel “Bye, bye gas.”

Julije Domac said that once there was a saying, “a Croatian wallet in a Croatian pocket,” but today, it is “the Croatian sun on the Croatian roofs.” He added that everyone is aware of how much the times have changed.

Croatia, in his words, needs approximately ten experts to revise the Energy Strategy and transform it into a comprehensive, concise, and clear action plan. The bottlenecks in the legislative and regulatory framework are well known and have to be addressed.

According to Domac, this is a job for another ten or so experts, and then there is a need for ten good managers to implement it all, and, of course, the right policy is needed for all this to happen.

If Croatia doesn’t have 30 people for that, then the country must admit that it is sinking because there is not much time for energy transition, said Julije Domac.

Domac, who is also a special adviser on energy and climate to Croatian President Zoran Milanović, added that gas has a future in cogeneration but not in households.
