Coastal municipalities of Larnaca, Ayia Napa and Paralimni were supplied with equipment for collection and treatment of municipal waste in hotel units and other establishments through a project funded by the European Union.

The machinery receives, recognizes, separates and stores the material, providing stimulation. Citizens can opt for a receipt with the value of recycled waste or to donate the proceeds to a charity. The devices take in empty metal, plastic and glass packaging in a special crucible with a capacity of 40 packages per minute. The waste is compressed or shredded, reducing its volume by up to 90%.
