Zlatiborac company, famous in Serbia and across Europe for its cured meat products, has recently supplied a high-efficient equipment line for cutting and slicing. With this modern equipment, Zlatiborac has succeeded in reducing its electricity consumption and reduced its CO2 footprint.
Today, companies that plan smartly and operate responsibly pay considerable attention to how they impact the environment, climate change, and, more importantly, how they can reduce this footprint.
The Zlatiborac company stands for the company that successfully aligns its over 130-year long tradition with the requirement of the modern food industry. It also closely follows the standards of domestic and international markets where it sells its products (North Macedonia, Montenegro, BiH, Slovenia, Russia, Belarus), including some markets of the EU that are in the pipeline.
High-efficient equipment provides multiple benefits
The company wanted to modernize its operations and reduce its environmental footprint by upgrading to a new equipment line for cutting and slicing. Zlatiborac approached UniCredit Leasing Serbia, a Partner Financial Institution of GEFF Serbia Leasing. The GEFF team assessed the potential of energy savings and financial-technical parameters of the project.
New cutting and slicing equipment reduces electricity consumption by 2.45 MWh annually
The new cutting and slicing line reduces Zlatiborac’s operating costs by 30%. Also, it reduces GHG emissions by 30% (1.8 tonnes per year) thanks to a 2.45 MWh annual reduction in electricity consumption compared to the previous equipment while also lowering maintenance time and costs.
The GEFF green financing facility was developed by the Europen Bank for Reconstruction and Development
“At Zlatiborac, we are devoted not just to improving our operations and offering high-quality dried meat products to the growing number of our satisfied customers in Serbia, neighbouring countries, and Eastern Europe, but also to reducing our environmental footprint. By doing so, we are building a reputation as an environmentally friendly company, which is a pre-condition for a modern and responsible 21st-century company doing business in line with sustainable development”, says Dijana Savić, Corporate Affairs Manager at Zlatiborac.
The Green Economy Financing Facility Serbia Leasing (GEFF Serbia Leasing) was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is supported by the Green Climate Fund and the Government of Luxembourg.
