The board of directors of Montenegrin transmission system operator Crnogorski Elektroprenosni Sistem (CGES) has relieved of duty the company’s executive director, Dragan Kujović, in line with the law on companies. The post will be filled by Ivan Asanović, an electrical engineer, who has been appointed as acting executive director.
Until his appointment as acting executive director, Asanović had served as head of the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and metering service at CGES. The board voted unanimously to appoint Asanović, citing his extensive experience in business, continued professional development, and managerial skills.

Asanović thanked the board for entrusting him with the new duty, saying that he intends to “seize every opportunity that presents itself on the path of the company’s progress “ in order to ensure its growth.
At the end of 2019, CGES and Italian energy company Terna put in operation an undersea power interconnector between Italy and Montenegro, a move that enabled the Montenegrin TSO to triple its transit revenues. Serbia’s TSO, Elektromreža Srbije (EMS), is a shareholder in CGES.
Asanović joined state power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) in 2006, and was involved in the implementation of the Italy-Montenegro undersea power link project.
Born in Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital, in 1982, Asanović holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Montenegro.
