Operator za OIEiEK, authority for renewable energy sources and efficient cogeneration, participated in the General Meeting of the Association of Issuing Bodies in Namur, Belgium. The institution from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina became an associate member  of the enabler of international energy certificate schemes.

Issues covered at the event included the proposition to change European Union Directive 2009/28 concerning strategy of the development of renewable energy sources in EU and Energy Community members, with particular focus on the changes to the guarantees of origin of power from renewable sources. The suggestions will be submitted by the organization to the European Commission, which is responsible for the draft of the new directive to regulate the development of renewable energy sources, Operator za OIEiEK said.

On the margins of the session, Almir Muhamedbegović, representative of the body from the Federation of BiH, informed AIB chief Dirk van Evercooken about its activities and plans for complete integration of the guarantees of origin from the entity in the European market, the press release said. Van Evercooren said the integration will be initiated through SPOC project. AIB set Swissgrid, its member from Switzerland, to provide legal assistance to Operator za OIEiEK in the field of management of the system of guarantees of origin. An eventual integration will enable trade of guarantees for power from renewables generated in the Federation of BiH, the statement said.
