Milan-based Alerion Clean Power is expanding its wind power portfolio to Romania. The company signed an agreement with Monsson Alma on the development of three units of 350 MW in total.

Soon after joining forces with PV Project RO with the aim to install photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 200 MW in Romania, Alerion Clean Power announced it is working on three wind projects of 350 MW in total with Monsson Alma. It didn’t disclose the financial details.

The Italian firm said it expects to obtain all permits by the end of next year and added it would accelerate the expansion in the market, praising the government of the Southeast European state for promoting the deployment of renewables.

Romania has an overall 3 GW in active wind power plants and another 1.4 GW in projects due to be completed within five years.

Monsson cooperating with Enel Green Power in wind, solar power projects

Monsson Alma is a subsidiary of Monsson Group. Last month the company controlled by Swedish businessman Emanuel Muntmark signed an agreement with Enel Green Power from Italy, part of Enel Group, for the development of 500 MW of wind power and 500 MW in solar projects in Romania together with battery storage of 300 MW in combined capacity.

The renewable energy company with headquarters in Constanța and Dublin has 7 GW in project pipeline across the world.

Alerion Clean Energy preparing stock offering of up to EUR 300 million

Of note, right after announcing the start of the wind projects in Romania, Alerion Clean Energy said it would raise as much as EUR 300 million in share capital by mid-year.

The Milan-based company noted it would use the proceeds for investments, with the goal to double the installed capacity to 1.5 GW by 2023, widen its geographical presence in foreign markets and pursue technological diversification in the photovoltaic sector. Alerion operates 15 wind farms in Italy, one in Bulgaria and one in Spain, with a total installed capacity of more than 700 MW.
