North Macedonia’s national electricity market operator, MEMO, and Montenegro’s power exchange operator, BELEN, have launched public tendering to select suppliers of trading platforms for the operation of their respective day-ahead markets.
The bid submission deadline for MEMO is June 22 and for BELEN, May 26, according to the website of the Energy Community Secretariat, which helped draft the tender documents.
Offers are due on May 26 for BELEN and June 22 for MEMO
The drafting of the tender documents, as well as the operationalization of MEMO and BELEN, was supported through the Technical Assistance to Connectivity in the Western Balkans project, implemented by the Secretariat and funded by the European Commission.
Power exchange coupling in the region will help develop a single European electricity market
The objective was to facilitate the establishment of day-ahead markets in North Macedonia and Montenegro as a key precondition for coupling with neighboring markets in line with the so-called EU target model, which is the cornerstone for the development of a single electricity market in Europe.
In March, the Albanian power exchange, ALPEX, invited bids for the operation of the day-ahead and intraday markets of Albania and Kosovo*. The deadline to file offers is May 17, the Secretariat recalled.
