Electric vehicles manufacturer Next.e.GO Mobile SE plans to open its first factory outside Germany in Greece.

Next.e.GO Mobile SE and Enterprise Greece, a governmental investment and trade promotion agency, have signed a letter of intent to set up a joint venture in Greece.  The company will start manufacturing a four-seater electric vehicle at its main plant in Germany at the beginning of 2021.

The project will be fully implemented within 24 months

According to Enterprise Greece, a final agreement is expected to be ready within three months, and the project will be implemented over a period of 24 months.

The two parties agreed in principle to collaborate and, as a result, they are forming a working group to detail the framework and conditions for the implementation of a full-scale manufacturing facility in Greece.

The working group will be led by George Filiopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, and Ulrich Hermann, CEO of Next.e.GO Mobile

Next.e.GO Mobile also intends to establish a Technology and Innovation Campus (TIC) in Greece, Enterprise Greece said.

The working group will be led by George Filiopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, and Ulrich Hermann, CEO of Next.e.GO Mobile.

According to the German company, the agreement serves to establish a first international production location outside the home country for the e.GO Life platform.

It is an important step on the way to the international growth of e.GO and it is fully in line with the mission to transform urban e-mobility, the company said.

The agreement with Next.e.GO Mobile comes just weeks after the Greek government and Volkswagen Group announced a deal for a groundbreaking e-mobility project on Astypalaia island.
