The Greek government has secured EUR 100 million for subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles (EVs). The funds are planed for a period of 18 months.

This is the first phase in the government’s program to enable faster uptake of EVs. The goal is to have one in three new vehicles powered by electricity in 2030.

Electric vehicles are to become up to EUR 10,000 cheaper

The authorities are also introducing measures to develop charging infrastructure.

Buyers of electric cars and light commercial vehicles will get 15% of the purchase price while the state will provide 25% for electric taxis.

Every new building should have the infrastructure to charge electric vehicles

Together with tax breaks, electric vehicles are to become up to EUR 10,000 cheaper, Electrive.com reports.

Electric cars will be exempt from parking fees for two years.

According to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the plan is for every new building to have the infrastructure to charge electric vehicles.

The e-mobility measures are part of a ten-year climate protection plan that the government has just announced.
