Denmark-based Vestas Wind Systems A/S has won three new wind turbine orders in Greece, for a total capacity of 185 MW, according to press releases from the company.

The latest order, from Volterra S.A., is for 15 V117-3.45 MW wind turbines delivered in 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode for two wind farms in the Viotia region, Vestas said.

The order includes the Kastro-Likovouni wind farm derived from Greece’s feed-in premium system and the Ampelia wind farm awarded at the country’s second renewables auction held in December 2018.

The 54 MW order has taken Vestas’ total order intake in Greece past 1.9 GW and its market share to more than 50% since installing Greece’s first wind turbine in 1986.

The order includes supply and installation of the turbines as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. Turbine delivery is planned for the second and third quarter of 2020, while commissioning is planned for the second half of 2020.

Undisclosed order for 88 MW wind farm

Earlier in September, Vestas won an undisclosed order for an 88 MW wind farm in Greece with a 20-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement.

For this order, Vestas has developed a solution that includes the supply and installation of 21 V136-4.2 MW turbines equipped with Vestas Anti-Icing System to optimize performance in the sites’ specific climatic conditions. This solution will minimize the risk of icing on the turbine blades, maximizing energy production in cold climate conditions.

Turbine delivery is planned for Q2 2020, while commissioning is planned for the second half of the same year.

Marble producer Pavlidis places 43 MW order

Greek marble and granite producer Pavlidis S.A. has placed a 43 MW order for three wind farms with Vestas.

The contract includes the supply and installation of 12 V136-3.6 MW for the Didima, Mavra Litharia, and Dio Petres projects located in northern Greece.

The order also comprises a 20-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement.

Turbine delivery is planned for Q3 2020, while commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of the same year.
