Bremen-based wpd europe and Rijeka-based Tekol Teri have set up VE Krmpote, a joint venture to develop a wind farm on the Ruševo-Krmpotsko location near Novi Vinodolski, wpd said in a press release. The value of the investment is estimated at more than EUR 120 million.

The Krmpote wind farm will have an installed capacity of up to 90 MW and cover an area of 27 square kilometers. The wind farm is expected to generate around 250,000 MWh of clean energy, which will significantly contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, dependency on electricity imports, and the transition to a low-carbon economy, according to the press release.

The output is sufficient to cover the annual electricity consumption of more than 50,000 Croatian households.

VE Krmpote launched operations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the City of Novi Vinodolski, which states the investor’s intention to be mindful of the local community’s interests and needs and the city’s plan to support the investment.

The agreement on the establishment of VE Krmpote was signed by Andreas Chollet, head of project development at wpd europe, and Mato Markanović, development adviser at Tekol Teri. The MoU was inked by Velimir Piškulić, mayor of Novi Vinodolski, and Zoran Obradović, board chairman at VE Krmpote and managing director at wpd Adria, part of wpd europe.

wpd intends to invest EUR 1.5 billion in BiH, Croatia

wpd intends to invest EUR 1.5 billion in an integrated 1.2 GW wind farm system in the Livno-Grahovo-Knin area in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Obradović said recently.

Obradović, who recently spoke for Balkan Green Energy News about wpd Adria’s investments in the region, said that the plan is to build wind farms with a total capacity of 900 MW in BiH, and a further 300 MW in Croatia.

The project would be developed in stages, with construction expected to start in three to four years and be completed in 2030.

wpd Adria’s four wind farms in Croatia have a total capacity of 100 MW. The company is currently assessing the wind potential in the Ravno municipality, in the south of the Federation of BiH (FBiH), an entity of BiH. The planned wind farm there should have an installed capacity of 50 MW, with construction expected to start in three years.
