The Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia has launched tendering for the selection of the supplier of last resort for end-customers not entitled to guaranteed electricity supply.

The deadline for submitting offers is 8 days from the launch of the public invitation to take part in the tendering and expires on November 8, according to the text of the invitation.

The commission handling the tendering procedure will draft a decision for the selection of the provider of last resort within 5 days from bid opening, scheduled for November 8. The criterion for selecting the best bid is the lowest offered price. The last resort supplier will be selected for a period of two years, according to the public invitation, published on the website of the Ministry of Mining and Energy.

The price is to include the price of active energy and of balancing and not to include the distribution use-of-system charges (“network charge”) and the charge for privileged power producers.

According to the Law on Energy, last resort supply can last up to 60 days continuously.

At the moment, the role of the last resort supplier is performed by state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS). At the end of November 2016, the Government of Serbia assigned the role of the last resort supplier to EPS for two years.

The EPS’ price for last resort supply is EUR 55.84 per MWh excluding VAT.
