Czech embassy invites non-profit legal entities to apply for renewables grants

The Czech Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has invited non-profit legal entities to apply for grants of between BAM 18,900 and BAM 37,800 (approx. EUR 9,650 and EUR 19,300) for projects in the field of renewable energy sources to be carried out in 2019 under the Local Small Scale Projects program, according to an announcement on the embassy’s website.

Eligible to apply for the annual Local Small Scale Projects program are BiH-registered non-governmental and community organizations, academic institutions working on local projects, international, intergovernmental, multilateral and regional institutions, organizations and agencies working on local development activities, municipal, regional or national government institutions or agencies of the recipient country working on local projects, according to the announcement.

The financing will be disbursed in the local currency (BAM), and financial participation in the overall project value must be at least 30%. The amount should be rounded.

The deadline to submit proposals is September 14 at noon, and project activities are to be implemented from March through October 2019, the embassy said. An applicant may submit only one project proposal.

The total planned personal and travel expenditures, insurance and similar expenses must not exceed 25% of overall costs.

Local Small Scale Projects are an integral part of the development cooperation of the Czech Republic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and they are implemented every year through a grants program managed by the embassy, according to the announcement.

In 2018, the Czech Republic’s grants for Local Small Scale Projects also targeted the renewable energy sector, as well as sustainable management of natural resources (water supply and sanitation systems) and good governance and strengthened democracy, according to an invitation of applications issued in September 2017.

The funding offered by for each project for 2018 ranged between BAM 15,000 and BAM 37 500 (approx. EUR 7,675 and EUR 19,200), according to the embassy’s website.
