Mate Rimac, the founder of Croatia’s electric carmaker Rimac automobili, announced on social networks that a major German automotive company will build a factory for the production of electric vehicles’ engines in Serbia.

On his social network account, Rimac wrote that he was recently at the meeting of the board of directors of a major German automotive company, with revenues equaling Croatian GDP, and was told that they were looking for a location to build a factory for electric vehicles’ engines in Eastern Europe.

“15 countries were competing for the plant, and Macedonia and Serbia entered the finals. Croatia was not even among these 15, and in the end, they have chosen Serbia. There, it will produce hundreds of thousands of engines for electric cars that will power many European premium cars,” Rimac wrote.

He also noted that another big project was agreed, but it is not on him to talk about that, but he said that German company has 140,000 employees.

Rimac also said something about the city in which the factory will be built.

“Some city in which planes were made. At least the Germans told me so, I forgot the name,” Rimac said.

Serbian media reported that this condition is met by Belgrade, Pančevo, Kraljevo, and Jagodina.
