Eight bids for installation of 1 GW wind power capacity in Turkey

Eight consortia, composed of international and Turkish companies, have submitted their bids in the tender for 1 GW wind energy project, which was organized by Turkey under the Renewable Energy Resources Area (YEKA) scheme.

Invitation for bids for the installation and operation of wind power capacity of 1 GW was placed in April, 2017. The project that covers seven regions is worth USD 1.2 billion (EUR 1.12 billion) and also foresees the construction of a wind turbine factory.

According to Anadolu Agency’s Energy News Terminal, world’s top wind turbine producers participated in the tender and total of eight consortia submitted their final bids for this YEKA project.

The bids were placed by the consortium formed of Danish Vestas and Turkish Enerjisa, consortium of General Electric (U.S.) and Fina Enerji (Turkey), and consortium made of Chinese Goldwind and two Turkish companies, Akfen Holding and Beycelik.

Four wind turbine producers from Germany has participated in the tender in consortia with Turkish companies.

Siemens has participated in the tender together with companies Turkerler and Kalyon, Enercon has formed a consortium with Polat Energy and Limak Energy, and Nordex with Ilkim Elektrik Yatirim, MKS Marmara and Zorlu Energy.

Senvion Wind Energy Solutions has placed the bid together with IC Ictas Energy.

Chinese company MingYang has also participated in the tender with Ilk Construction (Turkey).

The future wind farms would generate 3,000 GWh of electricity per year, supplying around 1.1 million households. The project will also help avoid 1.5 million tons of CO2 emissions annually.
