The Nordex Group has received a new contract from Turkey for installation of nine wind turbines in the Province of Izmir. This upcoming 30 MW project will be the sixth project the wind turbine manufacturer is to realize for the same customer in Turkey.

Nordex will start installation works in April 2018, in the Province of Izmir. The site will be located at an altitude of 1.200 meters.

Given that altitude, the customer, Turkish company Umut Insaat, ordered N117/3600 and N117/3000 turbines, specifically designed for these wind conditions, the Nordex site reads.

Key components for the turbines will be made in Turkey in order to help local manufacturing.

Nordex announced last July that it obtained 72 MW of orders from two different clients in Turkey, namely Pakmem Elektrik and Sur Enerji.

Pakmem Elektrik ordered 16 N131/3600 turbines for the Cerit wind farm, to be delivered as of spring 2018, while Sur Enerji, a subsidiary of Sur Group, ordered four N117/3600 turbines for the Kurtini project.

The Group has installed wind power capacity of more than 21 GW in over 25 markets, generating sales of EUR 3.4 billion in 2016.

The production network comprises plants in Germany, Spain, Brazil, the United States and India. The product range primarily concentrates on onshore turbines in the 1.5 – 4.5 MW class addressing the requirements of developed as well as emerging markets.
