Energo d.o.o., utility operating in Rijeka, will use proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a EUR 6.15 million project to improve district heating in Croatia’s third-biggest city.
The project includes the rehabilitation of the network, the construction of a new power plant, installation of gas-fired boilers, and supply and installation of cooling equipment for district heating services, the bank said.
As it is announced, tendering is expected to begin before the end of the year.
Acording to EBRD’s general procurement notice, the contracts will be open to firms from any country.
Since 2014 the international financing institution is supporting an investment programme in district heating services in Rijeka, the note adds.
The port city has a population of 190,000 and is an administrative and industrial centre with vital transport links for the country, EBRD said. Energo is the exclusive provider of district heating services in the area under a 30-year concession agreement signed in 2006.
In order to operate in line with EU objectives and regulations the company has launched a comprehensive modernisation and investment programme, according to the document.
