The Ministry of Finance of Montenegro has launched a public call for a 30-year lease of state-owned land for a wind farm on the territory of the Municipality of Šavnik in the central part of the country.

The project could further strengthen Šavnik’s position in the renewables sector in Montenegro. The municipality hosts the country’s first wind farm – Krnovo. One of the largest solar power plants is also planned here. Sunrise Europe intends to build a 220 MW photovoltaic facility in the cadastral zones of Dubrovsko and Duži.

Not far from the two locations, in the municipality of Nikšić, plans are underway to build Montenegro’s third wind farm – Gvozd. The financing deal for the project was recently signed.

If all three said investments are implemented, Montenegro would have four utility-scale renewable power plants no more than twenty kilometers away from one another.

The capacity of the wind turbines should be 6.6 MW each

According to the public call, the government intends to lease state land in the Malinsko cadastral zone to a company that would design, build, operate and maintain a wind farm. Wind turbines should have 6.6 MW apiece.

The project’s total capacity wasn’t specified. However, ten days ago the government issued urban planning and technical requirements to the company Vjetro Park Bijela for a 118.8 MW wind farm project in the cadastral zone of Malinsko.

The starting bidding price of the lease is EUR 176,400 annually

The starting bidding price of the lease is EUR 176,400 per year. The final price will be adjusted for the annual inflation rate in Montenegro.

The public call is open to all domestic and foreign firms and citizens, with the condition to pay a deposit of EUR 8,820.

Participants must have experience in designing or building wind farms and a positive financial result in each of the last two years.

The deadline for applying is August 15, the call reads.
