State-controlled power utility Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS) closed this year’s second call for applications in the sale of 59.28 GWh of electricity surplus.

The previous tender was for 31.92 GWh, both available for delivery between June 1 and June 19. Bids were placed for either the full amount or a portion – but not lower than 5 MWh. Offers had to cover the whole period of delivery, the company said in a public invitation posted on its website. The bidders had to provide bank guarantees for 3% of the value of the offer and the signing of contracts for approved lots is announced for May 27.

Last year, ERS signed contracts with five local and regional buyers for a total of 460.5 GWh of surplus electricity available for delivery in 2016.

The company based in Trebinje, operating installed capacity of 1.35 GW with an average annual production of 5 TWh, is the power utility of the Republic of Srpska, one of the two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other is the Federation of BiH, where power utilities Elektroprivreda HZHB and Elektroprivreda BiH, the largest of the three, are based.
