The town of Vinica in Macedonia’s east is installing photovoltaic panels at the water reservoirs in the nearby villages. The new system enables automatic chlorination, portal Independent.mk reported.

“We aim to provide all our rural communities with good quality potable water, and to overcome their long-standing problems. The new system will help the villages of Trsino, Trstija, Kruševo and Pekljani, and we are also preparing a filtration station in Trsino”, Mayor Emil Dončev said.

The system will reduce the need for human input in the water system, with automated control with electricity stored in batteries and availability 24 hours a day. Total investment is valued at MKD 256,000 (EUR 4,000), the article said.
