North Macedonia to subsidize prosumers with EUR 130,000 in 2021

The Government of North Macedonia has adopted a program to promote renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in households for 2021, with a budget of some EUR 840,000, including about EUR 130,000 in subsidies for prosumers.

In the case of prosumers, the state will reimburse up to 30% of the costs of the purchase and installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems, with a capacity of up to 4 kW, for the production of electricity for self-consumption. Individual subsidies are capped at about EUR 1,000 per household.

In recent years, North Macedonia has done a lot to support citizens who wish to use renewable energy, improve the energy efficiency of their homes, or switch to more efficient and cleaner fuels.

Subsidies for solar thermal collectors in 2021 will also soak EUR 130,000

This year’s program will also subsidize the purchase and installation of solar thermal collectors, covering up to 30% of the costs, and up to 70% for low-income households. The budget for this purpose is also EUR 130,000.

The largest chunk of the budget for 2021 is allocated for energy efficient windows

A further EUR 360,000 will go towards subsidies for the purchase and installation of PVC or aluminum windows, where the state will cover 50% of the costs, and 70% for low-income beneficiaries.

The purchase and installation of pellet stoves will be supported with a total of some EUR 230,000, with the state reimbursing 50% of the costs, and 70% for low-income households.
