So far 107 illegal landfills have been removed after citizens used the Kasper application to report illegally dumped waste.
Kasper, a collective application for waste selection, collection, and recycling, is free and available on Google Play and App Store. It allows citizens to report waste by marking the location on the interactive map, adding basic information and sending it to the city services operators.
After cleaning, they post the photo and the time when the cleaning was done. In situations where cleaning is not possible, they post the explanation.
The application for Android and iOS was launched at the beginning of March, and so far 138 reports were received. Only four are currently unprocessed, according to the website of the City of Podgorica.
In total, 27 cases are still open because they are not in the city’s jurisdiction. Fifteen refer to waste which is not located on the territory of the city, while 12 are for waste on private property.
The application was introduced by utility companies Čistoća and Deponija from Podgorica, in partnership with Amplitudo and Crnogorski Telekom. Part of the funding for the project was provided by the United States government.
The goal was to improve the efficiency of city services in the field of waste management and to secure more efficient communication with citizens in improving environmental protection.
The application will significantly contribute to waste management and enable citizens to contribute to the protection of the environment, the city said earlier.
