The European Water Association (EWA) is launching a series of webinars and looking for webinar speakers.

Some of the webinars will be for members only as a service to the members, and some of the webinars will be open to non-members for a fee, EWA said in a press release.

The exact frequency of the webinars will depend on the ability to recruit well-qualified speakers as the quality of the content is of outmost importance to EWA. That said, EWA is interested in hearing from well-established researchers as well as giving a voice to young upcoming professionals and future researchers, the press release reads.

The European Water Association (EWA) is an independent non-governmental and non-profit making organization dealing with the management and improvement of the water environment. Its members are primarily national associations representing water professionals, organizations, and enterprises, and since 2018, EWA has also opened up for any non-profit making research unit, such as a university, research institution, department, laboratory, or any another appropriate unit in the field of water to join as a research member.

In 2019, the University of Urbino in Italy and The University of the Aegean in Greece joined as new research members of EWA.

The relationship with EWA’s scientific basis has always been strong. The EWA working groups and scientific committees connect science with technology and expert people will be evaluating the webinar proposals to secure the quality.

People from a EWA member association will be first in line but we are very open to hear from everyone with a new angle or an interesting water topic. The aim of the webinars is therefore to give researchers a voice and a chance to show their scientific research, transfer their findings and apply the outcomes of the research to the European water sector.

In the Balkan region, the following associations are members of the EWA:

  • Serbia: Serbian Water Pollution Control Society (SWPCS)
  • Croatia: Croatian Water Pollution Control Society (CWPCS)
  • Slovenia: Slovenian Water Pollution Control Association (SDYW)
  • Romania: Romanian Water Association (RWA)
  • Albania: Water Supply and Sewerage Association of Albania (SHUKALB)
  • Bulgaria: Bulgarian Water Association (BWA)
  • Greece: The University of the Aegean: Department of Environment
