The Serbian Electric Power Industry (EPS) has called the second tender for the rehabilitation of seven more small hydropower plants (SHPPs) in Serbia. The EPS invited companies from across the world to submit sealed offers for the work on the plants.

The offers must be submitted in English by noon on July 5, 2017. Tender documents listing minimum requirements and other details are available from the EPS for a non-refundable fee.

The EPS called the first tender for the rehabilitation of the first seven of 15 small hydropower plants early this year. The work on all the plants will be financed from a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The loan approved by the EBRD for the EPS is worth EUR 37 million.

The EBRD said in a statement that the invitation for tenders comes after a General Procurement Notice for the Program for Reconstruction of 15 Small Hydropower Plants published its web site on May 9, 2011 and updated on August 31, 2016.

The small hydropower plants that are to be rehabilitated under the terms of the second tender are: SHPP Sveta Petka  and SHPP Sićevo outside the City of Niš, SHPP Temac near Pirot, SHPP Sokolovica  and SHPP Gamzigrad near Zaječar, SHPP Vučje outside Leskovac and SHPP Jelašnica near Surdulica.

The work to be done on the SHPPs includes demolition or dismantling existing structures, performing earthworks, laying concrete, masonry and insulation works, metal and aluminum works, facade, painting and drywall works as well as the installing of water supply and sewage systems. The expected duration of the work on all seven plants is 60 weeks which is 20 weeks longer than the terms set in the first tender.

The EPS will invest about half a billion euros in the modernization of hydropower plants (HPPs) by 2025, and has no plans for the mass construction of SHPPs.
