The e-UpCity electric bus, produced by Romania’s company ATP, has successfully been tested in the city of Târgu Mureș.

The e-UpCity electric bus was officially presented in May, and so far it was introduced for testing in five cities: Oradea, Brăila, Făgăraș, Târgu Mureș, and Turda.

Tatar Bela, general manager of Transport Local SA Târgu Mureş, said the vehicle’s prototype was tested for two weeks and that it is suitable for public transport.

The bus, with a capacity of 83 seats, operated for free on main city lines. It has a range of at least 200 kilometers in the city, Agerpress reported.

It is a prototype and small adjustments will be made during homologation, said Bela.

The e-UpCity prototype has a total of 83 seats, but the number can be expanded to 95, and a length of 12.18 meters. Driving autonomy is at least 200 kilometers in the city. The bus can be upgraded to reach 360 kilometers. Charging time is three to five hours.

The prototype includes components and solutions from various manufacturers including CATL, ZF, Bosch, Valeo, and DANA Prestolite.

Said Mircea Cirţ, president of ATP Group, said feedback from the cities where the prototype was tested was good.

The goal is to test it in as many cities in Romania as possible by the end of the year in order to collect data to evaluate it properly, he said. The results are also positive from a technical point of view.

Modern look and high level of comfort offered by the e-UpCity bus are already recognized by the passengers, Cirţ said.
